[hcflinux] Can't get connected

Hi, 
I'm using Mandrake 8.2 and KPP, i cannot connect to the internet using 
the Mandrake rpm. I did the symbolic link to /dev/modem from dev/ttyHCFO, 
but KPP says it cannot find the modem. The modem is the Conexant HCF:
VendorID=14F1 
DeviceID=1035

Any ideas as to how i can progress?
