look in the install file... it details how to find out whats going on.
you are looking for the info on the lastcallstatus file...
you can add: loglastcallstatus=1 to the end of the hcf options line in
/etc/modules.conf
then the modem will report what the actual error was in the syslog or
/var/log/messages
The line you want to see looks like this: <TERMINATION
CAUSE=whatever_the_reason_was>
At least that will tell you what the error resulting in the disconnect was..
Also, you didn't mention a pppd error, pppd will give you an error number
when it disconnects..
if you do: man pppd
just after line 1000 is a list of what the modem error numbers mean.. in my
case, it was error 16, which just says:
16 The link was terminated by the modem hanging up.
but you might have a different number.
I had similiar problems with mine, but they seem to be mostly fixed with the
newest driver.. have you loaded the newest driver?
rpm -qa |grep hcf
hcflinmodem-0.91mbsibeta02042500-1_mandrake

Apr 26 10:15:06 localhost pppd[2595]: Hangup (SIGHUP)
Apr 26 10:15:06 localhost pppd[2595]: Modem hangup
Apr 26 10:15:06 localhost pppd[2595]: Connection terminated.
Apr 26 10:15:06 localhost pppd[2595]: Connect time 14.8 minutes.
Apr 26 10:15:06 localhost pppd[2595]: Sent 96888 bytes, received 644506
bytes.
Apr 26 10:15:07 localhost pppd[2595]: Exit.
That's what I'm getting on most of my disconnects, still having to reload
modules in between connections. Also, I'm finding that the modem is failing
to fully hang up - but I hear this is a kppp issue?
