[hcflinux] Problems installing Linux HCF modem drivers

Hi, Marc.

I'm a programmer, my name is Ivo; I'm brazilian, and my english isn't good,
so,
please, be patient, ok?

I'm new on Linux, and I have a Conexant HCF modem, that cames with my
machine,
an IBM Aptiva. I use Debian 'potato' (2.2r6) as my distribution, and can't
make my
modem work. When 'hcfpciconfig' tried to re-compile the modules, then some
errors
ocurred, caused by wrong source tree, I think (Debian source appears to be a
bit
different from RedHat). Then I got an RPM package with sources 2.2.19-7.0.4,
unpacked and tried again (I forgot to say before - my kernel is v. 2.2).
Everything
appeared to work, but 'depmod' found a lot of dependencies on hcf modules
and
they weren't loaded. So, this is the situation, and I would be very pleased
if you
could give me some help. Sorry by the long mail.
