[hcflinux] Failure to boot

After installing hcfpsimodem and ripetide, when the boot process goes to
load the ppp objects, the boot stops.  The only way to get a response is to
cont-atl-del out of the boot.

Cpu – Pentium II 400 Mhz
Modem HCF 56K Data Fax PCI Modem installed on com 3
