Hi everyone!
I'm getting crazy trying to install and configure my "stupid" modem (HCF Rockwell 56K). I installed the rpm I found in the Conexant website, the one for my kernel version (2.4.19-16mdk Mandrake 9.0). The installation works well (or so it seems), but in the /dev directory the /ttySHCF0 device is absent...
So I tried to follow the HCF Driver FAQ, running "dmesg", and this is the result:
[...]
HCF ASIC ID: 215
2598991.828: HCF: DEVMGR ERROR: DpReset: timed out waiting for checksum 1
2598991.828: HCF: DEVMGR ERROR!!!! DpReset returns FALSE, attempt=0
2598992.333: HCF: DEVMGR ERROR: DpReset: timed out waiting for checksum 1
2598992.333: HCF: DEVMGR ERROR!!!! DpReset returns FALSE, attempt=1
2598992.838: HCF: DEVMGR ERROR: DpReset: timed out waiting for checksum 1
2598992.838: HCF: DEVMGR ERROR!!!! DpReset returns FALSE, attempt=2
2598992.838: HCF: DEVMGR Fails DM_ActivateHardware
hcf_request_port: ComCtrlOpen failed, r=1!
This part of response, however, appears only after I run "minicom" (I think, then, when I try to "talk" to the modem).
I read many forums, tutorials, helps, faqs ... but I'm unable to find a solution.
Can you help me?
Ah, if I run the "lspci -v" command, the result is:
00:08.0 Communication controller: Rockwell International HCF 56k Data/Fax/Voice/Spkp (w/Handset) Modem (rev 01)
Subsystem: Rockwell International HCF 56k Data/Fax/Voice/Spkp (w/Handset) Modem
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 9
Memory at dc000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=64K]
I/O ports at e400 [size=8]
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 2
Thanks in advance,
Ursula
