[hcflinux] struggling with connection

Really appreciate your suggestions - added  modprobe hcfpci serial - command 
accepted with "warning will taint the kernel" message ,activated modem, went 
to mozilla but still get immediate "could not connect message - I have Gnome 
desktop only
