Hi,
You can look at the functions "configure_country" and "autodetect_country"
in the script to see how it configures the country code using /etc/localtime
and /usr/share/zoneinfo.
I don't have this problem with RedHat 8. I will test on Debian if I get a
chance.

This is an update from my previous post:

I got it working on gentoo/ppc. Then I copied the config files to
Debian/ppc and got it working. I will try to figure out what went
wrong.
Also, there seems to be some issues when hcfusbconfig is called more than
once, the first time it detects correctly my country (Canada) but the
second time, incorrectly (USA). This occurs both on gentoo and Debian.
