[hcflinux] Use of HCFPCI modem under Debian

Here's some more info on the problem:

I tried upgrading the kernel (to 2.4.21 from 2.4.18); however, I still 
receive the same batch of error messages:
PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00:12.0
         HCF ASIC ID: 215
         3738763.275: HCF: DEVMGR ERROR...

What makes the problem more perplexing is that the modem worked fine 
under the Mandrake distribution (kernel 2.4.19) using the Mandrake 
version of the same drivers.

Has anyone had the above error messages before, and discovered the solution?
