Hi, I installed Mandriva Linux on my Toshiba Satellite
P105-S6024 laptop and I'm trying to fix my modem. I'm
pretty sure it is made by Conexant, according to what
I see in Windows device manager. I downloaded and run
scanModem but it aborted abruptly:

./scanModem
>From http://limodems.technion.ac.il , get a recent
update of scanModem, if this copy was not there
obtained. There are weekly updates.
Updated on: 2007_June_19
ls: /usr/bin/gcc*: No existe el fichero o el

Analysing card in PCI bus 00:1b.0, writing to
scanout.00:1b.0

    Modem with PCI ID 8086:27d8 is in the software
modem category.
 The modem driver snd-intel8x0m is Not loaded.
 To enable functional diagnostics, please either
briefly login as Root: su - root (Not for Ubuntu) and
unload and reload the modem driver
          modprobe -r snd-intel8x0m
          modprobe snd-intel8x0m
 Exit Root status
         exit and rerun ./scanModem

I followed the directions but now the program froze at
"ls: /usr/bin/gcc*:".

This is the ModemData file:

8086:27d8 is a High Definition Audio card, possibly
hosting a soft modem.

Now comes the file "scanout.00:1b.0":

PCIDEV=8086:27d8
CLASS="Class 0403: 8086:27d8"
NAME="Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G "

I tried the ListModem utility on Windows as well but
it reported no modem found.

I'm quite sure my Modem maker is Conexant because
that's what Windows Device Manager says: "CXT". Most
driver files are also signed by Conexant.
So I know I have to download and compile some Linuxant
driver.

The problem is that before downloading the driver I
have to know whether my modem is HCF, HSF or whatever,
but neither scanModem nor ListModem helped me in that
respect.
Could somebody interpret all these data and vendor
codes to tell me what kind of modem I have?

For more information:

This is what Windows Device Manager says about my
modem:

HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP
Location: 65535 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus)
Device Instance Id:
HDAUDIO/FUNC_02&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_1179FF31&REV_1000/4&484DAEA&0&0002

By the way, the sound card is Conexant as well:

HDAUDIO/FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_1179FF31&REV_1000/4&484DAEA&0&0001

>From the "Query Modem" on the Control Panel I tried
what I think are the so called "ATI commands", and
copied the output from the log file:

And finally, the output of a "lspci -v" as root:

Can anybody make sense from this? Which driver should
I download?
