Hi,
As suggested, I've recompiled the kernel with plain i586 processor support.
Still, when installing (loading) HSF drivers I get this frightening output:
Pre-built HSF modules that seem compatible with your system were found under
/usr/lib/hsf/modules/binaries/i686/Mandrake/linux-2.4.18-6mdk.

Your HSF modem should now be accessible as /dev/ttySHSF0
or through the symbolic link /dev/modem.
... and, of course, the modem doesn't work.
To notice that I've a monolithic kernel, with no modules at all (though module
support is built in and working).
May this be the problem, should I modularize the kernel or the problem is
something else?
This is the output of listmodem.sh:

Is there anybody out there who had this working on a Presario 714EA?
Thanks, bye
Daniele
