Maybe you should try kernel 2.4.18. Though Marc's documentation claims
that the modem modules run also with 2.2.x. But maybe you need proper
ACPI support which is AFAIK only available with recent kernels which
might even require the latest ACPI patches. ACPI patches are available
from:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=36832.
On my VAIO FX502 which has basically the same hardware and on an FX405
it works, but using an ACPI-patched kernel 2.4.18!
