[hsflinux] Unable to reboot after driver installation

Hi,
I am new to linux and I have a laptop with a AC-Link modem
and Mandrake 8.2. The diver rpm for Mandrake 8.2 works fine with
this modem but the machine hangs during the next reboot.

During the next reboot, the machine hangs at "Checking for
new hardware".But the machine boots properly in failsafe
mode.

The logs: messages, dmesg and boot.log do not have any
messages about this hung bootup (probably because the write buffer
got killed before anything was actually written).

Any insights as to what could be wrong ?
