[hsflinux] Problems with HSF Driver on Red Hat Linux 7.3

I have installed the driver for HSF modem on my PC
with Red Hat Linux release 7.2. It worked very well.
Recently I have upgraded my ReadHat to release 7.3.
The upgrade procedure seems to have overwritten all
the /dev directory removing device files (including
/dev/modem) formerly working. I tried to reinstall the
former HSF modem driver, but no luck. Then I tried to
download and install the last version of HSF driver
for kernel 2.4.18-3 (the kernel release I have now).
No luck again : I tried almost all the binary and
general distributions of the driver for my
kernel(discovering, by the way, that my system is
recognised by the installation program as an i686,
even if it's an athlon, as the command suggested in
the download WEB page correctly reports). When the
procedure completes I always have one "unresolved
symbol" by depmod. The symbol is "irq_stat_R51b43718".
The /dev/modem device is created but it seems no real
device is associated with it.
May someone give advice, please ?
Thanks in advance
Francesco
