[hsflinux] Newest release (30 Aug) doesn't recognize dial tone

Previous release worked fine on my Sony VAIO PCG FX-250 running Mandrake 
8.2 (2.4.16).  Downloaded latest rpm package, uninstalled the previous 
one, installed the new one and configured with hsfconfig.  I use kppp 
under kde to dial out.  Although everything looks fine, the system is 
apparently not recognizing the dial-tone.  Dial-tone exists at the 
computer end of the line (I check with a phone) and turning 'wait for 
dial-tone' on/off has no effect.  I am also not getting any sound though 
I had it with the previous release.  Any ideas anyone?
