I finally got it to work by putting the card in another slot, tweaking
the BIOS and recompiling the kernel, but now it's disconnecting
occasionally.
ppp.log:
Dec 23 02:08:12 hq pppd[9589]: No response to 4 echo-requests
Dec 23 02:08:12 hq pppd[9589]: Serial link appears to be disconnected.
Dec 23 02:08:18 hq pppd[9589]: Connection terminated.
Dec 23 02:08:18 hq pppd[9589]: Connect time 273.2 minutes.
Dec 23 02:08:18 hq pppd[9589]: Sent 31880314 bytes, received 49336393 bytes.
Dec 23 06:59:02 hq pppd[9589]: Terminating on signal 15.
Dec 23 06:59:02 hq pppd[9589]: ioctl(TIOCSETD, N_TTY): Interrupted
system call
Dec 23 06:59:02 hq pppd[9589]: Hangup (SIGHUP)
Dec 23 06:59:02 hq pppd[9589]: Exit.
Odd bit is it doesn't actually kill pppd when it loses the connection,
even though the persist option is off.
