[hsflinux] hsf on mandrake 9.1

When I connect to the internet after it logs in I still hear what the modem 
is doing its mostly a static noice like on a tv but its not there unless i 
dial and connect. I have installed the hsf and riptide drivers. In the 
settings its set to have no modem noice so i don't know what else to do.
