Hi,

the problem is that you have the 'snd-intel8x0m' module in your kernel
which prevents the HSF driver to take control of your modem.

There is a feature to disable and then warn the user that a conflicting
module is loaded into your kernel but unfortunately, this feature is
currently broken on Fedora Core 3. This feature will be fixed in the
next release of the driver.

In the meantime, please add the following line to your
'/etc/modprobe.conf' file :

---
install snd-intel8x0m /bin/true
---

and then reboot your machine.
