Hi,
--------------
Just to recall the facts, a short summary:
I installed the same modem one after another into two computers (PC1
and PC2).
PC1:
Debian 3.1r2, kernel 2.6.8-2-k7, hsfmodem-7.18.00.07full (sources)
=> I get a connection to the internet.
PC2:
Debian 3.1r2, kernel 2.6.8-2-386, hsfmodem-7.47.00.03full (sources and
deb)
=> The modem is recognized, the modem rings but I don't get a
connection to the internet.

Yes I did. On PC1 I hear on the phone how the modem still tries to
ring. On PC2 the modem immediately stops ringing.
> How did you determine that the hardware is working fine?
The modem worked fine in PC1 (I got a connection with the internet). I
took the modem and installed it into PC2 (I didn't got a connection).
I took the modem and installed it back into PC1 (I got a connection
with the internet).
=> The hardware had no damage.

I took the source folder of 7.18.00.07 from PC1 and copied them to
PC2. The modem was recognized, the modem rang but I couldn't get a
connection to the internet.
(On the Homepage I couldn't find the original 7.18.00.07 driver for
Download.)
