Subject: [driverloader] Problem with a Ti ACX100 based D-Link WDL-650+PCMCIA
wireless NIC
Hi all.
I've downloaded the trial version of DriverLoader from the linxuant website
to
see if I can get the above mentioned card to work on my system. previously I
tried to use the SourceForge acx_100 kernel module, but it required some
binary files which I couldn't locate in the driver disk I got with the card.
I'm trying to use the card on two computers - Compaq Armada M700 and a
Compaq
Evo N160
Both are using Mandrake 9.2 upgraded to latest cooker with kernel 2.6.0-1 or
kernel 2.4.23, both the Mandrake provided binaries.
The funny thing is that when ever I plug in the card, the computer
immidietly
freezes - nothing happens on the screen and no keyboard or mouse input is
accepted. when the card is pulled out, everything resumes normally.
When I do that on the 2.4.23 kernel, I get a lot of messages in the message
essentially saying that hotplug did run and tried to load the module for the
driver but found non and gave up. on the 2.6 kernel nothing at all happens.
Installing DriverLoader was a breeze - downloaded, ran rpm -i, it said it's
compiling a module for the kernel and at the end it was loaded.
In the manual for the NIC it said that the drivers must be installed prior
to
the card being plugged in, so I continued to load the Windows XP drivers I
downloaded from D-Link's site. I logged into the web interface and supplied
the INF file from the Windows XP directory. it asked for a few binary files
that were also available in the same directory and I uploaded them to. I
then
got the screenshot you can see here
http://www.geek.co.il/screenshots/driverloader.png .
Now I precedeed to plug the card again but I got the same result -
everything
frozen, and nothing in the logs.
I have no idea how to continue at this stage, and will appreciate any hints
whatsoever.
TIA
