[hcflinux] conflicts with ethernet cards

Dear all,

I am using a Conexant modem with MDK 9.1
(Conexant|SoftK56 Winmodem [COMMUNICATION_OTHER] (vendor:14f1 
device:1815 subv:0e11 subd:0042)
I installed your latest driver and it connects, but it recognizes the
 settings (in particular, I think, the DNS) only if I give the command
"ifconfig eth0 down"
before connecting. This is annoying because then every time I need the 
ethernet cards I must
restart the device. Is there any way to avoid this? If not, you should 
perhaps warn users.
