[hcflinux] hcf driver speed differences on various distros

I have hcf 14F1:1085 modem and I the latest precompiled driver for specific kernels on both Redhat 9 and Mandrake 9.1, for some reason Redhat 9 the driver gives download speeds of about 5.5K/s to 6K/s but on Mandrake its only about 3.5 to 4K/s. Whats so different? both driver versions are the same, both use kppp same settings and same isp (they are the same computer i reformatted and installed).
