[hcflinux] UK Caller ID and the HCF 06834-12

Hi,

Do you mean you can't receive someone else's UK Caller ID, or you
can't send your own UK Caller ID?  I also have an HCF modem,
and I have been successfully using it to connect to UK Online from 
Linux on the Pay As You Go number, 0845 3331121, for some weeks
now, but whenever I try to connect to the unmetered number
08089933259, which I am paying for, and works from MS Windows,
the connection is lost as soon as it starts, before log on identification
can start.  Using wvdial, I get a message like CONNECT 57600,
then immediately, a message stating that the connection has been
lost.  Exactly the same thing happens when I try to connect to the
Tiscali unmetered number, 08089933030, which I am also paying for,
and also works from MS Windows.  The difference from the
successful logon from Linux to UK Online Pay As You Go must be
something to do with when the 0808 number requests the UK Caller
ID.  I had thought that this was a connection negotiation problem,
and not connected with the modem driver, so I didn't mention this
problem on this list before.  But after your message, I am wondering
if there is after all a technical problem with the modem driver.  Has
any one else on the list managed to connect from Linux to one of the
UK unmetered numbers, of the form 08089933xxx, which do
request your UK Caller ID?
