[hsflinux] System hangs using latest hsf drivers...

Downloaded the latest hsf modem drivers
(hsflinmodem-5.03.03.L3mbsibeta02093000.tar.gz) yesterday, hoping for
greater stability with my VIA AC97 (vendorId="1106" deviceId="3068")
built in modem. Indeed, I seem to be able to connect easier, and the
connections seem less prone to being dropped (perhaps just my
imagination), but after a succesful connection, trying to reconnect
later for whatever reason will often bring the system down to a
standstill. I am running kernel version 2.5.34, Slackware 8.1.

Using wvdial (I often use kppp, but switch randomly between the two),
the error messages are visible on the console. Please note, these were
copied by hand, since I had no control over the system once these flew
up the screen, so they may not be 100% accurate. I took them down in
the hope that someone knows what they mean :) It looks to me like
it's the modem drivers that cause the system to hang, so I'd rather not
bug kernel developers with this one...

I have omitted telephone numbers, because that's about the only part
that I can eliminate from the above that I understand properly :) I'd
have tried a newer version of the 2.5.x tree had I been able to reach
kernel.org before now, since buffer.c must be a kernel file, not one of
the files used for the modem drivers (that said, a quick search under
the kernel tree reveals buffer.c files only in the 'usb' and 'fs'
sections, so I'm just confused...)
