Unfortunately I cannot help in this case, because I don't have access to this
Compaq Notebook anymore. Moreover SuSE 8.0 is using gcc-2.95.3 and SuSE 8.1
indeed is using gcc-3.2.
All I can say is that you must have exactly the kernel source files installed
from which your current kernel is built (I also had some strange errors for
the first time)
