Hi,
I would help a lot if you send us the file generated by the command
"hsfconfig --dumpdiag".
Thank you,

Subject: [hsflinux] /dev/modem busy error
Hi there,
I have a vaio GR250 running RH 9.0 kernel 2.4.20-8,
my modem type is:
"Intel Corp.|82801CA/CAM AC'97 Modem"
vendorId: 8086
deviceId: 2486
which according to Linuxant should be supported.
In fact it worked really well under RH 8.0 with
the driver
hsflinmodem-5.03.03.L3mbsibeta02110301-1.i386.rpm
but after I installed RH9.0 I could no longer use the
modem. I get the warning "/dev/modem is busy" when I
try to connect using kppp. Then I installed the new
generic driver
hsflinmodem-5.03.27lnxtbeta03042700-1.i386.rpm
and after this failed attempt I also tried the
specific one:
hsflinmodem-5.03.27lnxtbeta03042700k2.4.20_8-1rh.i686.rpm
Although I could install and configure both of them
with hsfconfig, they all give me the same type of
error
(/dev/modem busy). I looked for other processes using
/dev/modem with fuser, but I found nothing.
Here are the hsf modules I have installed:
hsfich 119116 0 (autoclean)
hsfserial 26804 0 (autoclean)
hsfengine 1126316 0 (autoclean)
[hsfserial]
hsfosspec 35356 0 (autoclean) [hsfich
hsfserial hsfengine]
and
$ll /dev/modem
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Jun 17
19:24 /dev/modem -> /dev/ttySHSF0
Before each installation I removed the earlier one
with
rpm -e hsflinmodem-(old_version_here)
I have no idea what's wrong. Please let me know if
you know how to fix this/have any suggestions.
Thanks in advance,
Adriano Batista.
